Pride is a feeling of deep satisfaction with our associations and achievements. Last week on November 11th, Veterans Day, our faculty and student body gathered to retire a United States Flag and pay tribute to those who have served in the military. The madrigals, our school choir, blessed our ears by singing The Star-Spangled Banner. Then Dennis Heaton, a former veteran, and our principal spoke on the value of our freedom and the role of Veterans in securing and protecting our liberties. It made me realize that having pride in our nation and military is the least I can do to show my respect and gratitude towards Veterans. Thankfully, here at Canyon View, there is much pride to go around.

We are very proud of our football team. They recently appeared for the first time ever in state competition, and although they lost the semifinals to Juab, 21 to 37, our team had an amazing season overall. In addition, Cali Hinton, Regan Miller, and Mckinlee Urie, captains of the Canyon View Drill Team, competed and made the 3A Allstate Drill Team! Don’t forget to congratulate them if you see them. Last week we also held our annual boys' volleyball competition, Macho Man, and it was such a blast! Shoutout to the champion team who won in nothing but their pajamas.

On top of all of that, a couple of weeks back our marching band and color guard went to state. After lots of calculated twirling, synced marching, and noise-making they won third place! As someone with no coordination or musical ability, I applaud each and every one of them for their talent. Speaking of talent, I would encourage you to go watch our production of Tuck Everlasting on November 17, 18, 19, or 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium at Canyon View High School. Hope to see you there!

This week at Canyon View we have been very satisfied with the accomplishments of our athletes, artists, and peers, and I don’t foresee a decline in satisfaction any time soon.
