As the quarter comes to an end most of us falcons are feeling the weight of their grade point averages bearing down on us in one way or another. The stress has simply driven most of us mad as we try to get our grades where we want them to be. From studying, to test taking, to remediation, to extra credit assignments, to pleading with teachers it is amazing we don’t just implode. If that sounds bad, try adding college admissions on top of it. The seniors here at Canyon View are also working on their college applications, filling out their FAFSA and applying for scholarship after scholarship. It seems as though, for us seniors, October is one big joke and we are the punchline. Even so, we will gladly be a jester if it secures us a promising future.
However, life goes on and even as we all struggle with our academic pursuits, other events are happening around us. During the cross country meet last week at Cedar High our varsity girls took 3rd place and our junior varsity girls took 2nd. Also, our girls volleyball team has won several games in the past few weeks including Richfield, Judge Memorial, Bear River, and JDCHS. In addition, the girls soccer team absolutely crushed Emery nine to nothing in their first state championship game. Along with that the golf team went to state this week and beat out Grand and Emery in the first round and were able to progress to the second round of state. The Football team also won their game on Thursday against Carbon, 53-0. Way to go Falcons!

As far as the arts go, Canyon View recently held a choir concert in the auditorium. It was a really cool opportunity for the High School to collaborate with the middle school and put on a stellar performance. Mrs. Redd, the orchestra teacher at CV middle, Mr. Chipman, the choir teacher at CV middle, and Mr. Byers, the choir teacher at CV high, really outdid themselves!
With all the stress stemming from the end of the quarter, college admissions, and other extracurricular activities I think we are all overdue for a vacation. Thank goodness fall break is just around the corner.
