These past few weeks the halls of Canyon View have been filled with an unspoken feel of anxiety and excitement. The reason for these tensions? Homecoming. Boys have been busy mustering up enough courage to ask a girl to a dance, meanwhile the girls are scrambling to find the perfect dress. Nevertheless, despite the anxiety, we are brimming with excitement. There are many fun activities during homecoming week to get us riled up for the big game.
On Monday from 5 pm-7 pm the student government is partnering with Sparkles Car Wash to give anybody and everybody a free car wash. On Tuesday we are organizing a drive in movie in the parking lot of CV Middle School at 8 pm. On Wednesday we are holding our annual Powder Puff game at 7 pm. On Thursday the student body is getting together on the football field at 8 pm to release lanterns into the night sky. Friday is the highly anticipated game day. This year we are throwing a tailgate party for the entire community before the game. This party will be in the parking lot of CV Middle School at 5 pm, hope to see you there! This year we are also starting a new tradition of honoring alumni each homecoming. This year we are honoring the Class of 2002 and 2017. On Friday we invite the alumni of all classes to come to the Alumni Banquet outside of Canyon View High School at 5:30 pm. Lastly, on Saturday our very own princes and princesses may just find their happily ever after at our Homecoming dance.
Along with the anxieties and excitement surrounding homecoming week, region is looming right around the corner for many of our fall sports. Luckily, we seem to be up to the challenge. The girls soccer team is on a roll, having won their past 7 games in a row. Tennis has swept their last 2 matches against San Juan and Gunnison, and cross country got back from pre-state competition with a few medals under their belts as well as some new personal records. Keep it up Falcons!
Despite the enthusiasm which we press forward, I would like to take the time to acknowledge the past. On September 11th, 2001 four terrorist attacks were launched against the United States by the Islamic extremist group, al-Qaeda. In these attacks 2,996 lives were lost, may they rest in peace. To honor those lives who we lost too soon, our choir, Madrigals sang at Fiddlers Elementary during their annual 9/11 commemoration.

Suffice it to say, this week has been quite the emotional roller coaster. Yet, here at Canyon View you are never on the ride alone. For every high and every low, for every twist and every turn, we get through it together.
