In the dazzling shine of homecoming it is easy to become blinded to all of our other accomplishments. However, rest assured that they are not forgotten. We have had some amazing wins here at Canyon View over the past few weeks.
A few weeks ago the girls tennis team went to region, and they did not disappoint. Third singles, Kennedy Rigby, took third. First doubles, Aliyah Hathaway and Amy Lee, lived up to all expectations, coming in the first seed and finishing in first. Meanwhile, second doubles, Hallie Carter and myself, Kayleah Madsen, exceeded all expectations at region and caused quite an upset coming in as the fifth seed and going home as region champs. Overall girls tennis took 3rd at regionals! Nevertheless, 3rd place just wouldn’t cut it for the girls soccer team. After beating Emery five to nothing on September 29th they became region champions and are currently ranked 2nd in the state! I wish them all the luck for their first state playoff game on October 12th.

Our performing arts have had quite a lot going for them in the past week as well. Our Color guard won their first competition and were awarded “best colorguard,” “best visual,” and “best sound.” What’s more is that many drama students here at Canyon View performed at Shakespeare Competition, and many did well. Amber Rose, Clara Call, and Marina Paul placed 3rd for their acting duo/trio scene, Ava Lundt, Tanley McCurdy, and Jaeda McCurdy, placed 3rd for their dance duo/trio scene, and Emma Armour even got offered a scholarship to Westminster College. In addition to theater, Several members of Madrigals qualified to participate in All-State choir, a SATB choir composed of 650 of the best choir students in Utah. These students all had the chance to sing in a Grand Festival Concert in the Tabernacle on Saturday evening.

In other news, many clubs and organizations have been kicking into full gear as well. Fccla presidency members attended a leadership conference last week, and just a week prior many high achieving students were inducted into our National Honor Society chapter here at CV. This is such a notable achievement because of the high academic standards and moral expectations members have to have. These students really are some of the best and brightest that Canyon View has to offer.
These past few weeks at Canyon View really have been just phenomenal and I look forward to seeing Canyon View thrive, flourish, and dazzle through the rest of the school year.
