This week, on January 29, 2025, Canyon View FFA hosted and competed at the Area Nine Competition. After months of preparation, careful judge selection, and planning, the competition went off without a hitch.

Tayslee Larson took top two in Creed Speaking, which means she’ll go on to compete against around forty other competitors in Logan, Utah. Mady Byrd placed third in Job Skills and Interviews, after putting in hours of work on her resume and cover letter. Sam Sheets competed in Extemporaneous Speaking, placing third after researching and presenting an agriculture topic of his choice. Not to mention Canyon View FFA alone has six State Degree recipients, who get to receive an award at State Convention in 2025.

Not only did Canyon View host Area Competition this year, but they also hosted their first ever Alumni and Sponsorship Banquet on January 31. The chapter wanted to reach out to parents, past members, alumni, and their biggest supporters to tell them how grateful they are for their support and continued assistance. Canyon View FFA wouldn't be where it is today without all of the behind the scenes members.

The banquet kicked off at the Cedar City Heritage Center with a dinner catered by The Pizza Factory, and ended with a silent auction, which raised over three grand towards the FFA chapter. Said money goes towards travel expenses, registration fees, and activity fees. Canyon View FFA has never hosted an alumni banquet in the past, so to have such a successful event under their belt was extremely rewarding. The chapter hopes to have another banquet in the future, so their sponsors always know they appreciate their help.
