You may have not known that your favorite art teachers may have not always wanted to be an art teacher. Well we went around to your favorite art teachers and asked them how they came to be the teachers we all love. The first teacher we asked was Mr. Seely. Mr. Seely told a captivating story. He told us how he loved drawing as a kid, but later on he discovered his other passion which was theater tech. He enjoyed it so much that he decided to pursue Theater Tech in college at UVU, but when it clashed with his home life he turned to his dad for advice. They had a discussion that would led Mr. Seely to begin pursuing art as his profession.Though there were many struggles through his journey, he ended up making a career out of both of his passions.
The more we interviewed the other Art Teachers, we found a similarity among all of them. Mr. Davis never intended to be a ceramic teacher. In fact he was pursuing to become a wildlife biologist. He took a ceramic making class in college and ended up loving it so much that he made it his career! A slightly different story for Mr. Brown. Mr. Brown always loved art. He wanted to become a studio artist, but when he became burnt out, he decided to coach the swim team. The school realized Brown’s artistic ability and ended up hiring him as the art teacher.
Some may want to call it a coincidence or even destiny, but whatever you call it, I’m sure we are all glad to call them our art teachers.
