There are moments where everything seems to go right. No matter how rare or how fleeting, those are the moments we live for. In those moments it feels as though everything you have worked for has paid off. And in those moments, it doesn’t matter how difficult it was to get there or how many obstacles you had to overcome, because it was all worth it. Those are exactly the kind of moments that we have had in our nest recently.
A couple of weeks ago several of my friends and I headed up north to support the Talons at their State Drill Competition. We even stayed up late to tie sparkly pink tinsel into our hair because we wanted to be the most spirited supporters in the crowd. Not to toot our own horn, but we totally were. Our screams of encouragement and pride rang through the entire gym after each and every one of our teams performances. When the time for awards arose, there was no doubt in my mind, the Talon’s were going to win. Not only were their performances phenomenal, but they were testaments to the perseverance and commitment of each and every one of those girls. My faith was not misplaced, the Talons swept in all categories, military, dance and show and brought home the state title for the second year in a row!

It doesn’t end there. Our boys swim team placed 2nd at state! A huge shout out to Jacob Grimshaw for being the state champ in the 500 meter! In addition, Our girls wrestling team took 3rd at their state competition! The boys also went to state and placed 8th overall. Congratulations to Julia Kay and Tilisa Matakaiongo for their outstanding performance, they both came out on top as state champions! In addition, Henry Publica, Hallie Carter, and Violeta Gonzalez made the 3A Academic All State Team! To top it all off, our very own Dallas Lowry was awarded Coach of the Year. We are so proud of our wrestling team, and applaud them for their phenomenal season.
And if that wasn’t enough, both of our boys and girls basketball teams advance to the State Tournament this week at Southern Utah University. Both teams play on Thursday. The boys team takes on Manti at 12:50 and the girls match up against Richfield at 5:50. Good luck Falcons!

Every moment counts, and here at Canyon View we have been making the best of each and every one of them. We are so proud of our basketball teams, swim teams, wrestling teams, and our drill team. They all have worked so hard, and deserve their moment in the spotlight.
