More than five teachers at Canyon View High School can use part of their teaching job as a side hustle! Even a few students here have been known for creating something they could turn into a career or make money off of!
Canyon View has a variety of art classes that students can select as elective credits. These classes are taught by incredibly talented teachers. Mr. Alex Byers teaches music classes, such as choir and guitar. Many of his students are influenced to start writing their own music, and Mr. Byers says that Chandler Crawford, a current CV student, has “written several things, including some pieces that the groups here at CV have performed.”
Another amazing art teacher at Canyon View is Mr. Randy Seely. Teaching all of CV’s drawing classes, Mr. Seely influences kids to use their creativity and make dazzling art pieces. He helps students show their brilliant pieces to the public by assisting them in entering local art shows and galleries. Mr. Seely uses his passion to make art for himself on the side, and also gets paid to do commissions for other people!
Although he teaches business and finance, rather than art, Mr. Rob Potter is a teacher who motivates students to work hard for the things they want to achieve. He even knows students who have run businesses while they attended CVHS, including Daxton Christiansen! Mr. Potter says that the most important factors to remember when going into your own business are always to follow a passion and treat other people well. If you follow those guidelines, you’ll more easily build something you love being involved with. Treating other people well is also very important because that’s how you can keep business partners close and pass good words around about you!
These teachers are always guiding all sorts of students to follow their passions and do something they love. There is so much inspiration they hold and share, allowing students to get an early start on something they want to do for the rest of their lives. It truly is remarkable to see how much talent Canyon View High School holds!
