On January 22 this year, CVHS cheer earned a place in the top 5 at State! Located up North in Salt Lake City, Utah, Canyon View’s cheer team provided an amazing performance, earning them 5th place overall!

The 21 girls who have earned their places on CVHS’s cheer team say they always end practice with a hands-in chant together. Taelor Hawkins, a Sophomore and two year cheer member says one cheer tradition is to “stick pom pom pieces that fall out of poms” in their shoes “during competition for good luck.” 

Within the different competition categories, the girls earned 3rd place in dance, 5th place in show cheer, and 5th place in their cheer. Amazingly, Freshman RanDee Ekker placed 2nd place in the state jump off! That takes some hard work, dedication and especially talent!

The girls did an amazing job this weekend, making huge progress from last year. We cannot wait to see where the girls take Canyon View!
