ESports, short for Electronic Sports, is one of the many exciting clubs at CVHS. In November, this amazing team took third in Super Smash Bros against all of Southern Utah. This club is a way to embrace your competitive side in the world of video games. ESports is no ordinary club, each member practices 8 hours a week in the yearbook lab. Team members play many popular games including Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, and Rocket League.

Coach Barton, a Language Arts teacher at Canyon View, is the advisor for ESports.
Josh Phong is the president of the club, alongside Chance Dolton as vice president, and Ian Hurst as secretary. These individuals can be credited for the club’s success and popularity at CVHS.
Ian Hurst says his favorite thing about ESports is, “Mr, Barton being a fun guy and just being him.” He also loves the competitive nature of the sport.
Each game also has their own captain! Smash Bros captain is Louis Hernandez, Mario Karts captain is Ozzy GlynnValerent. The club holds matches every week, so, hopefully, they can qualify for state. State Finals are March 6th at the University of Utah. They also host a tournament called the Canyon Clash, an March 28th where they invite schools to come compete. Their season is far from over.
