The Canyon View Talons triumphed over 3A Region. The drill team swept all three competition performances, taking 1st in Military, Dance, and Show. “We have worked our butts off all year long, so winning region felt amazing!” Says Military Head Caption, Averi Pace.

In addition to taking home the region trophy, several girls received individual awards. The Academic All-region awards went out to seniors Emily Shewmake, Miah Juassi, Averi Pace, Aspen Gower, Alyssa Williams, Kamryn Kreamer, and Jocelyn Arnold. The seniors who received All- region team went out to Alexa Benson, Aspen Gower, and Miah Juassi. Junior Tilisa Matakaiongo, took 1st place in the region Drill Down.

CVHS Talons have a very good program. They receive great support, from the parents, students, and most importantly, each other. The head captains of the 2023-24 season have fought hard to bring up this incredible team. Averi Pace, Aspen Gower, Kamryn Creamer, and Alexa Benson have brought nothing short of positive and uplifting energy to this team. Fourteen seniors are ever so sad to see this season coming to an end. “It’s been the best 4 years being on this team and I will cherish those memories forever”, said senior, Alexa Benson.

Next week the Canyon View will head to the 3A State Championship. The 32 members will be hoping to defend their state title that they won last year. “We’re more than prepared, we just have to go do what we do best!” Says senior Jaci Macinnis. Come and support the Canyon View Drill Team on February 2nd through the 3rd. The competition is being held at Utah Valley University in Orem. “We feel so ready for state and can’t wait to see what it has to bring us!” Averi Pace added.
