A lot of the time, we forget about the students at our school who are not directly in the spotlight. The kids who don’t participate in sports, band, or theater. The kids who are following the rules and getting good grades. That's why they started giving out the perfect attendance award at CVHS to acknowledge those kids and make them feel appreciated because the faculty and staff really do treasure them.

Mrs. Morton, who is in charge of this program, said when I asked her about it, “...To get perfect attendance, it can only be a school excused absence... and you can’t have any tardies for that 2-week period, so I run a report, and I would put in my random number generator, and I would randomly select 12 kids, and then I call those kids down and I give them a cookie for perfect attendance.” It’s always nice to feel valued, and that is what this program does for the normal hardworking Canyon View student.
