In honor of FCCLA Week, club members wrote thank-you letters to educators. FCCLA week was nationally held from February 12th–16th; however, regionals for Canyon View were held on the 13th. To compensate, FCCLA participated in Wednesday’s Educator Day the following week.
During the lunch meeting on February 21st, students wrote letters to thank their educators. Crystal Baker, one of the advisors for FCCLA, comments, “Gratitude is good for the person writing the thank-you note, and it always feels nice to be appreciated.” FCCLA week offers an opportunity for members to expand and improve on themselves, their families, careers, and communities.
Each day of FCCLA week focuses on a different aspect of the club. Kathryn Spencer, the other club advisor, vocalizes, “FCCLA is a week to celebrate FCCLA and FACS classes through participating in chapter activities.” Member Monday celebrates members of FCCLA by showcasing what FCCLA means to them. FCCLA Day of Service, held on Tuesday, is a day to serve the community and share who influences you. Wednesday was Educator Day, a day to show appreciation to those who teach important skills. Alumni Day, on Thursday, is used to share with others how FCCLA has helped to sharpen skills for the future.
The president of FCCLA, Shawnee Goldthorpe, shares, “It has greatly increased my public speaking skills to both a large group or in a interview type of setting.” Finally, Friday was spirit day, filling the day with the color red.
