Up front, I admit it I am not as well versed in Black History as I would like to be, and so are the
majority of white Americans, especially in predominantly white communities or states like Utah
where we don’t have the benefits of diversity. There's an Instagram page called the Black
Menaces who are five students from BYU who ask their fellow students all over Utah campuses
about different issues having to do with race and identity.

The organizer of this instagram page, Sebastian, in one of their videos asked Weber State
students about different black historical events and figures. He asked five students and only two
knew the answers to his questions. They did the same at BYU and had the same results. I think
we all get a little lazy about such things. We brush it off without really thinking about its true
importance. I think we could all try a little harder to understand these important chunks of our
human history. We have to strive to acknowledge all human stories and realize that the
predominant ones are not the only important ones.
Now some TRIVIA!
What is an HBCU?
What does Juneteenth celebrate and when is it celebrated?
Who is Thurgood Marshall?
Who is the current vice president?
What does BIPOC stand for?
Who is Rosa Parks?
What current/historical black person do you admire?
How many of these can you answer(Without looking it up)? Dig deep! It's American
history!
