On February 21st at 5:30 p.m, Our 2024 Canyon view Sterling Scholars had a recognition event here at CVHS in the library. This event was put together by the Sterling Scholars Committee and was catered by the CVHS Prostart team. The sterling scholars are as follows: Sarah Sommers, Music; Devin Howe, Computer Science; Ivy Colbert, Speech and Drama; Paige Cox, Visual Arts; Ava Kramer, Social Science; Andrew Barrick, World Languages; Shawnee Goldthorpe, Family Consumer Science; Lexi Jones, General; Ethan Cannon, Skilled and Technical Education; Kenna-Rea, Science; Alison Monroe, Mathematics; Evangeline Gardner, Agricultural Science; Kelli Anderson, English.

This annual event was for CV faculty, family, and community to celebrate the success of these students as well as see their accomplishments. People who attended got the opportunity get to know each high-achieving student. Each Sterling scholar had a display table that showed their journey to becoming a Sterling scholar, including awards, service to the community, and accomplishments within their category.

After the presentation, friends and family enjoyed a treat, and Dennis Heaton, our principal, presented the medallions to the sterling scholars. The Sterling Scholars then presented something they had prepared to show for their category to the guests.

The Sterling scholars will be competing at region on March 28th at Utah Tech University in St. George. Kelli Crockett, a member of the Sterling Scholar Committee, commented, “When you apply yourself, you can achieve great things.``
