On February 21, Mr. Seely brought a group of 20 students down to St. George visited two art museums, Art Provides and St. George Art Museum. The A.P. Art Studio class explored exhibits from local artists and high school students. Two CVHS students, Paige Cox and Trinity Wilcox, were featured in the St. George Art Museum, having to have gone through multiple boards of people to get it approved.

The group left early that morning, taking a bus filled with excitement, and went straight to Art Provides. The two stories of the building were filled wall to wall with new art and exhibits and a new artist had pieces being hung as the students explored. Downstairs was filled with watercolor pieces, a local artist Kimberly Jackson had her art on display and for sale. There were ways there to be able to bring some of their art home, with prints and greeting cards.

Afterwards, CVHS A.P. Art students were taken to the St. George Art Museum. The first floor had two local artists, Margaret Abramshe and Mark Rane, who did textiles and wire bending respectively.

Abram, she works in art quilts, a physical representation of photos. The guide at the museum walked the group through her process of finding photos, digitally laying out the colors, transferring it to the fabric, and quilting the contours.

Rane works with metal wire, bending it into faces and animals. According to the guide, he sketches people he sees in public and later turns them into works of art. The city of St. George also bought one of his pieces to put into their statue garden.

The upper floor focused on student artwork and another local artist Kathleen Frank. She used to be a wood carver, the thick lines and smooth contours in the painting reflecting the past.

“ One of my favorite quotes is ‘Study the science of art; Study the art of science. Develop your senses - especially learn how to see. Realize that everything connects to everything else.’ - Leonardo da Vinci” - Randy Seely
