The Steve Hodson project is a tournament that has been happening for the past 15 years. The tournament takes place every year during Christmas break, typically 3 days after Christmas, at CVHS highschool where teams from many different schools come together to compete and raise money in his honor.

The Steve Hodson Cancer Classic goes on for three days and honors Coach Steve Hosdon, who was a popular basketball coach who led teams from both Canyon View and Cedar High School to state championships. Coach Hodson passed away in 2008 due to cancer. Each year they have a tournament and fundraiser where all the money raised is donated. This year they were able to raise $9,000 and donate it to Deidre Heroux, a mother in Cedar City that is battling breast cancer.

Students and staff from Canyon View High School put together and are in charge of this event by collecting tickets, running the scoreboard, etc. This tournament is a great way for people to come together and give back to the community. It’s more than just a basketball tournament but a chance for the teams to compete and understand what it means to be a team.
