Swans Song

Swan’s Song: “A metaphorical phrase for a final gesture, effort or performance given.” (allclassics.org). This term came about because folklore has it that a swan sings a delicate song before they pass into the next stage of life. A swan’s song can be found in literature, musical compositions, works of poetry, and theatrical performances. I believe the beauty of a swan’s song comes from those who support the performer or writer. Their encores, shouts of praise, supportive feedback, and joyous following is what an individual's greatness can be attributed to.

I am Brooklyn Rushton, CV Student Body Historian. I was asked by Amyanne Rigby (my student government advisor) to write a swan’s song to the community as I prepare to graduate; yet I feel the only fitting goodbye would be for me to thank those who have followed CV and helped to make the Nest great this year.

I have been able to walk in the shoes of my fellow students. In the end, I look back and see that I was able to be a part of every CV team, club, and organization. I was able to be a part of my community through my association with the Iron County Today newspaper. I thank this amazing community for letting me be a part of your lives. I thank Canyon View for building me into the person I am today. To the staff, teachers, students, and Canyon View community, thank you for your friendship. I love my community; I love my school.

To my fellow seniors, I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors. I am amazed by my classmates and what they have accomplished over the years. “With our might, might, might, we will fight, fight, fight.
