What happened at CV in the past few weeks? Let’s find out!

The CVHS Girls' Basketball crushed Delta on senior night, February 6th. Jordan Davenport, a player on the team, was quoted saying, “An important person to me once said, five years from now nobody will remember who played the most minutes, who scored the most points. They will remember who you are and what kind of a teammate you are. That is why I love basketball. It's the people you play with.”

The Canyon View Falcons played their last game before the playoffs on Friday, February 9th against the Carbon Dinos. The Falcons beat the Dinos with a score of 60-53.

The Interact Club made Oreo chocolate truffles for their annual fundraiser. They made over 400 truffles, put them in individual candy cups, and packaged them in gift boxes tied with red bows and a gift tag. The money generated funds all activities of the club throughout the year.

The Foreign Language Club hosted a dessert around the world event for Valentine's day in Mr. Staheli's room. Desserts from Germany, Italy, Brazil, and so many other places were shared and enjoyed with everyone.

Swim State was on February 16th and 17th. The boys’ team received second place and the girls’ received third. Brenna Haley, a senior on the team, explains the dedication from the team, “State is extra fun because of the hard work that made you get there. You can’t just show up to swim and make it to state. You have to work hard every single day.”

The Sterling Scholar Night was on February 21st in the Media Center. The Scholars showcased their hard work and dedication for others to see. Everyone had different presentations. Those in attendance could look at the tables and see everyone's different accomplishments. Lexi Jones, the General Sterling Scholar, explains that "Being a sterling scholar is so stressful, but I think it pays off well. If nothing else, you get to compile all of your accomplishments together and realize 'Oh, I am kind of great sometimes.' "

On February 21st, Mr. Seely brought a group of 20 students down to St. George visited two art museums. The A.P. Art Studio class explored exhibits from local artists and high school students. Two CVHS students, Paige Cox and Trinity Wilcox, were featured in the St. George Art Museum, having to have gone through multiple boards of people to get it approved.

Region for Debate was on February 24th. The team placed 6th in sweepstakes and twelve debaters qualified for State. Charlotte Pulica qualified for both speech and debate, placing second in Oratory and top ten in Lincoln Douglas.

The Book Club participated in a “Blind Date with a Book” activity. Instead of everyone reading the same book, members chose from different books that are wrapped. The only information given was the book's genre, topics covered in the book, number of pages, publication date, and how many stars on Goodreads.

Canyon View High School’s Super Smash Bros Ultimate Team took part in the first round of the playoffs. The varsity team consisting of four players were Joshua Phong, Jaxsen Rollins, Tony Felipe, and Luis Hernandez.  The Falcons had a strong start with a 3-0 victory over Manti, but they lost the next two rounds against Bonneville and Davis with the score 2-1.
