We would like to give a huge shout out to our Canyon View Swim Team this week. They performed excellent at state; in fact, our very own Max Cannon was awarded Swimmer of the year! He took first in each of his races. Canyon View is super proud of Max and all of his accomplishments this swim season. We would also like to honor head coach Brown on being awarded UHSAA Swim Coach of the year.
A big thank you to Canyon View’s Amy Despain. Despain works in the library, and advocates students’ mental health as well. The library at Canyon View is a safe haven among the bustle of the classroom. It is a quiet corner of our noisy world. The walls are lined with colorful books, art, and encouraging words. Students come here to study, play games, or do puzzles. Thanks to CVHS Librarian, Kelli Crockett, Canyon View’s library is the perfect place to work on homework and amplify creativity. Crockett and Despain make a great team.
Despain hosts “Feel good Fridays” during Friday Flex. It is a class period where students are encouraged to come to the library during their free time and follow Mrs. Despain’s lead in a session of yoga. Her focus is to center the mind and body to reduce stress and anxiety. She advocates mindful living. Her classes help students to study more efficiently and to let go of tension that may be separating their minds from their bodies.
Boys Basketball is ranked twelfth in state, and Girls Basketball is ranked eleventh. They are killing it on the court and we can’t wait to send them off to their playoff games this week. Wednesday the boys will battle against Delta. If they win, they will be northward bound to play Morgan, who is ranked fifth in the state. Girls will play Christian Layton this Saturday. We wish both of them luck on their road to success!
CV Preference was a huge success. Couples of all ages came to support the wrestling team in their annual fundraiser. This year, the funds from Preference will go towards a CV Alumni who was recently diagnosed with cancer. There is no feeling comparable to having a good time while supporting our local friends and our CVHS Family.
