The nest is coming back, Iron County with some hot news. Student Government has been hard at work to begin an exciting new tradition here at Canyon View. Each member was assigned a subject to write on. As a group, we were able to cover the entire first half of our school year, and honor all of our clubs and organizations.
Students were busy interviewing and digging for fun facts to incorporate into the semi-annual pieces. It is extra exciting because we are able to celebrate Canyon View's 20th anniversary this year. To commemorate this special year, the art of literature is being used in a special event. The compilation of pieces will be posted to Canyon View’s blog.
Boys swim claimed first seed in 3A this weekend. Their tenacious attitude in the water helped them to discover success! In an interview with Kurt Brown, he exclaimed, “We had so many first place region champs. I mean the guys region, but the girls had performances that were first through sixth.” Brown was also excited to announce that the boys won every relay that they competed in, and they broke the 22 year lasting school record for the medley.
He continued, “We’ve been looking at that for a long time, and they beat it by two seconds… in swimming, every hundredth of a second counts.” We are so proud of our swimmers and cannot wait to send them off to state!
Athletic Director, Mike Hudson, said, “Honestly, I don’t really care about region; we’ve got our sights set on state.” We stand with Coach Hudson in saying that we are not stopping with the region title; we will clutch the State Title as well!”
