Canyon View Welcomes a New Football Coach

Hello Iron County. The Nest has a few exciting announcements for you! On February 21st, the Falcon Football family welcomed Burke Miller as the new Head Coach of the Varsity Football team. According to Jeff Rushton, Falcon Football Booster President, “Coach Miller has many years of football experience. He was an assistant at SUU, he has served as a QB coach, offensive assistant and most recently the freshman head coach at Canyon View's youth football program for over five years.” Along with the boosters we are thrilled to have Coach Miller and very excited for the future of the football program at Canyon View.
This year’s theme for Prom was announced last week. Mckinlee Urie, this year’s Junior Class President, said that the dance will be “Out of This World. The theme itself is intergalactic. The night will definitely be euphoric. Our goal is to host something no one has ever experienced before. It is going to be very fun! We are very excited about it!”
Speaking of shaking your groove thing…Canyon View is holding a stag dance March 4th to raise funds for a local cancer patient. Canyon View Student Government invited both Parowan and Cedar High Schools. Katelyn Pace has been hard at work since our annual Student Government Car Wash to raise funds for this charitable event. Katelyn is Canyon View’s Service Rep. She is one of the hardest workers Student Government has ever seen. We are so thankful for her dedication to the Nest.
February 23, CV held its 2nd annual Sterling Scholar Reception. This event was held to honor the Sterling Scholars and all of their hard work throughout the years. It is a chance for the students to showcase their portfolios which highlight their academic, civic, and school achievements. Debra Cutler, member of the Sterling Scholar Board at CV, explained the reception is a way for the community to see the caliber of people we have representing Canyon View as Sterling Scholars.
Harlee Nicoll is Athlete of the Week. Harlee is a dedicated Athlete. She plays volleyball and Basketball. This 5’11” senior plays as a power forward and center on the Varsity Basketball team. She averages 9.6 points per game, 8.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 1.3 blocks. Harlee has played in 19 varsity games. Big thank you to Harlee for helping the Nest compete in our new region this season.
Artist of the week goes to Zack Kle. Zack is a 4 year participant in the ceramics program at CV. Arts Rep, Sydney Bartlett commented, “He is always looking for new things to make, is always willing to help, and is eager to be in the studio.” We are thankful to Zack for helping to make Canyon View a creative space.
